Welcome To The Vilas County Humane Society

We are excited to present our in-shelter animals and hope that one of our furry friends can soon become part of your family!

We are also offering a Basic Obedience Class for dogs 4 months and older with handlers over 12 years old. The class is a six week project focusing on training methods aimed to instruct pet owners how to teach their pets basic obedience commands. These commands include - Sit, Down, Heel, Come.

Basic manners and other behavior issues will also be addressed.

We are currently interviewing for Shelter Manager and hope to make an announcement shortly.

ALSO, because we are a not for profit organization that exists due to the charitable donations of our supporters, we have a wish list posted under “Help Vilas Humane”.

We accept donations through Trig’s TSLC program, number 25S, and the “We Care” program through Pick n’ Save, number 897250. Stop by the courtesy counter of your local Pick n’ Save and let them know that you’d like to change your charity to “Vilas County Animal Shelter”! There is also a box to collect donations located in the lobby at Pick n’ Save in Eagle River.

Storage Building Fund Drive

We are working hard to gather sufficient resources to construct a Storage Building where we can maintain our Food, Tools, Pet Carriers, and other items that currently keep us from fully utilizing all of our current building.  Please send your tax deductible gift to Humane Society of Vilas County, P.O. The Humane Society of Vilas County is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. We are not affiliated with PETA, the Humane Society of the United States, or any other humane organization. We do not oppose hunting or trapping, or the humane harvest of game birds, animals, or fish by lawful means.

Mission Statement

The purpose of this Society shall be to promote responsible reproduction of companion animals as well as responsible ownership of those animals, respect for law and order, and educating school age children and adults in the humane treatment of animals.
