Biography of Steve Lucareli

Steve Lucareli grew up in Racine Wisconsin, and attended the William Horlick High School. Upon graduation from high school, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where he spent his freshman year attending Colorado State University studying engineering and wrestling on the collegiate wrestling team. After his freshman year, Steve returned to Wisconsin, where he eventually completed his engineering and law degrees at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Mr. Lucareli is married, and has one son. His wife, Candice, is an elementary school teacher. His son, Ben, attends Northland Pines High School. Steve and his wife enjoy watching their son play soccer and hockey, and are avid fans of the Northland Pines Soccer and Hockey Teams.

He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting with son and his dog, Finn, a Hungarian Vizsla and enjoys fishing with his wife and son. He has hunted with bows and arrows that he made himself and made his own buckskin clothing. He has taught Hunter Safety for the DNR. In addition to currently serving as president of the Vilas County Humane Society, he is also Chairman of the Eagle River Long Spurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Steve is a former District Attorney of Vilas County, an assistant district attorney in the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office, a special prosecutor for the State of Wisconsin, and is presently employed in private practice where he does primarily criminal and civil trial work from a home office in Eagle River. When he is not working, Steve also enjoys swimming, bicycling, and the martial arts.

Steve has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Vilas County for several years and he made prosecution of persons accused of animal cruelty and neglect a priority when he was in the District Attorney’s Office.
